Groovy Shirt Club step forward with ‘Electrify Profile’, a release that highlights the London collective’s commitment to groove-driven songwriting and authentic musicianship. Rooted in lived experience and shaped by years of creative exploration, the project reflects a band focused on substance, performance and artistic integrity.
The collective formed during the pandemic, emerging from a prolonged period of writing and recording that allowed creativity to take centre stage. At the heart of the group is songwriter and guitarist Rob O’Neil, whose journey in music began at just 13 years old. Over the years, he has led multiple band projects, steadily refining a voice that values originality and depth.
Beyond music, Rob O’Neil is active in independent filmmaking and screenwriting. He has written and produced short films, web projects and a feature-length mockumentary, expanding his storytelling approach across mediums. Despite receiving multiple publishing and recording offers, he has consistently chosen independence over restrictive contracts in order to maintain full creative control. That same ethos shapes Groovy Shirt Club, guiding their emphasis on authenticity rather than trends.

The musicians who make up the collective bring with them an impressive range of experience. Members have worked alongside Ray Davies, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Culture Club, Kid Creole and Matt Goss, contributing to a dynamic foundation of influences and technical skill. Pianist Bruce O’Neil has served for more than two decades as Head of Music at the Royal Shakespeare Company, while drummer Neil studied privately in New York with jazz legend Joe Morello, adding further depth to the band’s musical identity.
With ‘Electrify Profile’, Groovy Shirt Club underline their belief in songs crafted with care and performed with purpose, reconnecting listeners with the enduring power of real musicianship.
