Offset returns with J.I.D on high-impact new single “Bodies,” featuring a sample from Drowning Pool’s 2001 hit.
Offset ignites summer with the release of his dynamic new single “Bodies,” featuring J.I.D., out now via Motown Records. A fierce showcase of lyricism and energy, the track takes inspiration from Drowning Pool’s early 2000s rock classic, giving it a bold new life through a hip-hop lens.
Produced by Vinylz and FNZ, “Bodies” balances brooding piano chords with an eerie choir and aggressive percussion, creating a soundscape fit for Offset’s statement-making bars. “‘Bodies’ is one of them ones I had to really take my time with,” said Offset. “It’s about standing on who you are, coming out the mud, and being confident in the face of adversity.”
The track sees Offset flexing his narrative strength, threading complex rhymes with sharp delivery. J.I.D. brings his own agile verse, perfectly complementing the track’s tone and texture.
Visuals for “Bodies,” creative directed by Offset and edited by Mikey Rare, elevate the track’s cinematic presence. The desert-set video stages a striking scene: candlelit choirs, model-runway stylings by SheShe Pendleton, and a towering throne occupied by Offset himself. J.I.D. appears flanked by the grim reaper, adding dramatic weight to an already intense offering.
This single signals another chapter in Offset’s ongoing artistic evolution. “I’m always evolving, and I don’t fit in a box as an artist,” he adds. “‘I’ve been cooking this up for a minute and I’m just getting started.’” With J.I.D. by his side and visuals that blur music and fashion, “Bodies” is more than a track—it’s a statement.
