Nathan Day breaking down boundaries with a new single “Friends” featuring new character The Rabbit
The new single “Friends” was written, recorded, and produced by Day, “Friends” introduces the Rabbit, the latest vibrant addition in his cast of imaginary characters. The Rabbit comes alive in the Day-directed video shot in his hometown of Blackpool, England. At 6’2”, Day towers in a bright pink bunny suit while singing cheerful tunes about dark topics – creating the ultimate oxymoron: two polar opposites come together to form one story. It represents the bipolar nature of mania and depression, the highs and lows, and intense mood swings.
He adopts each character in both personality and costume to give representation to the different forms of mental illness. “Friends” follows the bubbling and anthemic “Fade Like You” which starred The Skeleton, chronicling the fear of death, emptiness and existential defeat. Day crash-landed with “She Came Down From The Stars,” which introduced us to The Alien, symbolizing feelings of alienation, isolation and abandonment.
Days’ band, Darlia, released several EPs and toured with The 1975, Nothing But Thieves, Gerard Way, The Wombats and more. He’s collaborated with the likes of Micko Larkin (Courtney Love), Cam Blackwood (George Ezra), Dan Lancaster (blink-182, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne) and more. Day now writes, produces and records his own music, and is hard at work at his next project, due later this year. Most recently, Day has been featured on the cover of Spotify’s Alt Rocked playlist and featured on the likes of The New Alt (970k), New Music Friday UK (780k), All New Rock (267k), Alternative Nation (231k) and more.
