Myke Towers releases ‘Island Boyz’, a bold, genre-blending statement rooted in identity and reinvention.
Myke Towers returns with a powerful new offering: Island Boyz, a 23-track album that boldly redefines the scope of Latin urban music. Released today, the project dives deep into Towers’ Puerto Rican and Caribbean heritage while taking listeners through an expansive sonic journey.
With Island Boyz, Towers avoids musical boundaries, blending reggaetón, dancehall, Latin R&B, afrobeats, and dembow. At the core of the album lies a celebration of his identity—not only as a Puerto Rican artist, but as a Caribbean creative with a global vision.
The album opens with “La Despedida,” a collaboration with DFZM that sets the tone with emotional honesty. From the hit “Soleao” with Quevedo—currently topping Spanish radio charts—to the introspective “Expectativas” and genre-hopping “No Hay Break” with Omah Lay, each track underscores Towers’ artistry.
Among the standout moments is “Surferita” featuring iZaak, a fusion of ska and Mexican tuba that showcases Towers’ ability to innovate within tradition. The focus single, “Tengo Celos,” is already gaining momentum and arrives with a visually captivating music video directed by Daniel Eguren and produced by Vampire Films.
Myke Towers reflects on the journey, stating, “I wanted it to sound like where I’m from, but also like what I’m living right now. Island Boyz is the realest thing I’ve done to date.”
