‘Holy Water’ arrives via Mercury and Big Loud, Marshmello with Jelly Roll, heartfelt story, country textures, big energy.
Marshmello releases ‘Holy Water’ featuring GRAMMY Award nominated superstar Jelly Roll, out now via Mercury Records, Big Loud Records. The single teams Marshmello’s feel for momentum with a soundbed built to honor classic country, then lifts it with the drive of his signature production.
For ‘Holy Water’, Marshmello reached for old school tools and feeling. He set a classic country soundscape in motion using 12 string guitar, baritone guitar, and mandolin, and he played those parts in the studio. Those timbres fold naturally into an up tempo beat and kinetic synths, creating a frame where Jelly Roll can step in with power and ease. When the hook lands, the message rings out, “One tear for the brokenhearted, pour out a little holy water.”
It tugs heartstrings and hits as hard as anything either of these icons has done, and that impact runs straight through the song’s story and its arrangement. The collaboration offers a space where tradition and modern energy sit side by side, each lifting the other.
Of the song, Marshmello said, “It’s really heartfelt. This is one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever released. It’s about losing a loved one. Unfortunately, a lot of us can relate to that. When I showed the initial idea to Jelly Roll and told him the story, he loved it. He’s an open book, and it was really great to see how it resonated. It inspired me to go in even more on the production and get creative with the country elements. He definitely brought it home to where it is now.”
‘Holy Water’ follows a string of 2025 releases from Marshmello, including ‘Worlds Apart’ [feat. Feat. AR/CO], ‘Save My Love’ [with Ellie Goulding & AVAION], and ‘Slow Motion’ [with Jonas Brothers]. It also marks his second country leaning collaboration, building on the path that began with ‘Miles On It’.
