LIZ reemerges with “SUNSCREEN” | A radiant collaboration with SOPHIE now sees the light of day
LIZ makes a powerful return with the long-awaited release of “SUNSCREEN,” a radiant and nostalgic pop gem created with the late visionary producer SOPHIE. Released nearly a decade after its original recording, the track officially introduces a new era for LIZ as she teases her forthcoming full-length album.
“SUNSCREEN” was originally recorded in 2018 at SOPHIE’s Nichols Canyon home studio. For years, the unreleased track lived in the underground: shared across YouTube rips, played in DJ sets, and whispered about in online forums. Now, in collaboration with SOPHIE’s brother Benny Long and vocal engineer Suzy Shinn, LIZ has lovingly completed the track in a way that honors SOPHIE’s legacy while stepping into her own bold new chapter.
The single is accompanied by a visually rich video filmed in Mykonos, Greece. Based on an original treatment imagined by SOPHIE and Renata Raksha, and directed by James Orlando, the video features the kind of playful, sun-soaked glamour that has defined LIZ’s aesthetic since day one.
The release also includes a limited-edition vinyl of “SUNSCREEN” to mark ten years since LIZ and SOPHIE first collaborated on the cult favorite “When I Rule the World.”
For over a decade, LIZ has stood as a unique force in futuristic pop—merging Y2K flair with underground edge. Backed by billions of TikTok listens and support from visionaries like Pharrell Williams and Charli xcx, she’s once again poised to captivate a new generation.
“SUNSCREEN” is more than a comeback—it’s a celebration of artistry, memory, and pop’s ability to evolve and endure.
