Lindsay Ell releases her heartfelt single “unloving you,” delivering raw emotion and lyrical strength.
Lindsay Ell returns with a powerful new ballad, “unloving you,” released today via Universal Music Canada. Marking her second single of the year, the emotionally raw track builds from soft piano chords into a bold, percussive anthem that showcases the strength found in emotional vulnerability.
Known for her genre-blending sound and lyrical authenticity, Ell continues to evolve her artistry with this latest release. “unloving you” reflects the complex journey of detaching from someone once deeply loved. The single offers lines that are both poignant and reflective: “Unloving you takes unlearning you / Unraveling the narrative I tried to tie us to.”
“I think a huge part of unloving someone is finding ways to unlearn the things you loved most,” Ell shares. “It’s one thing to hold onto happy memories, but it can be so complicated to slowly un-attach yourself to the things you were so closely woven to.”
Produced by Lindsay Ell and Doug Schadt between Brooklyn and Nashville, “unloving you” is accompanied by a compelling official visualizer that adds visual depth to the track’s emotional core. It follows Ell’s earlier 2025 release “i shouldn’t call you,” her collaborative alt-pop effort with indie band Nightly.
Following the success of her ‘love myself‘ EP—her debut with Universal Music Canada and the first she’s co-produced—Ell enters a new creative era. With over 400 million streams, three #1 hits, and a Platinum-certified single, she continues to redefine her sound and identity.
Fans can catch Lindsay Ell this summer at the GLAAD Concert for Love and Acceptance, and later supporting Shania Twain on her ongoing Las Vegas residency and tour.
