Lindsay Ell partners with Nightly for “i shouldn’t call you,” an emotional track that blends vulnerability and power, now streaming everywhere.

Lindsay Ell continues her artistic evolution with the release of “i shouldn’t call you”, a new collaboration with Nashville-based indie band Nightly. The single, out now via Universal Music Canada, builds on the themes of self-love and emotional reckoning introduced in her recent EP, love myself.

The track was co-written by Lindsay Ell and Nightly and co-produced by Ell and Doug Schadt. Opening with haunting reverb and sparse instrumentation, the song gradually escalates with driving percussion and an expressive guitar solo, mirroring the shift from heartache to clarity.

Reflecting on the song’s personal meaning, Lindsay shares:

“‘i shouldn’t call you’ is the perfect follow-up to love myself, because when you start to love yourself, you can see what you are worthy of and the things that don’t fit become clearer. I wrote this song to be the soundtrack for the honest struggle of coming to terms with realizing someone doesn’t fit in your life anymore.” – Lindsay Ell

Lindsay’s artistry continues to earn widespread recognition. In an interview with American Songwriter, she spoke about her creative growth, saying, “The quality of the song and the ability of a song to connect to a human being listening to it on the other side of the world is what matters.”

With an upcoming solo album planned for late 2025 and her ongoing role as lead guitarist in Shania Twain’s residency and tour, Lindsay Ell’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
