Leigh-Anne unveils her new single “Been A Minute” and a vivid carnival-inspired music video.
Leigh-Anne makes a powerful return with her newest single, “Been A Minute,” released via Virgin Music Group. The track arrives alongside a vibrant music video and marks a fresh step into a bold new era of creative autonomy.
“Been A Minute” sees Leigh-Anne reconnect with her Caribbean musical influences, weaving a sample from Masters at Work’s iconic “Work” into a rhythm-forward dancehall production. Crafted with producers Elijah “GYW Eli” Ross and Lasse Qvist, the single showcases her refined vocal performance set against a backdrop of infectious grooves.
The accompanying visual, directed by Femi Lade, transports viewers into a carnival dreamscape. Shot with an energetic flair, the video places Leigh-Anne at the center of the celebration—until a mysterious red-cloaked figure interrupts, injecting a cinematic twist into the storyline.
Leigh-Anne commented on the deeper significance of the track:
“There’s something powerful about sampling a song that shaped me growing up. I used to play it with friends when I was younger, and now I’ve reimagined it as the soundtrack to my comeback. ‘Been a Minute’ is fun, nostalgic, and the first taste of this new era…”
“Been A Minute” is the first new release since Leigh-Anne’s 2024 EP ‘No Hard Feelings’, a deeply personal body of work that explored themes of love and identity while merging R&B with her Bajan and Jamaican roots.
Following that momentum, Leigh-Anne embarks on a busy festival season with performances confirmed at Reading & Leeds, as well as headlining slots at Manchester Pride and Mighty Hoopla Malta.
