Alt-pop artist LALA HAYDEN releases “viva venus” and lead single “beast” — a celebration of self-worth and digital love.
LALA HAYDEN closes the chapter on her new EP viva venus with the empowering and emotionally raw single “beast,” out now. Working with producer Ben Christophers (Bat For Lashes, Françoise Hardy), the London/Barcelona-based singer-songwriter explores the complexities of love and identity in a digital world — all while carving a unique sonic identity grounded in shimmering synth-pop and fearless vulnerability.
“‘beast’ felt like a moment where all my guards are down and I show you inside my head on a down day,” LALA says. “I think social media is pushing us to extremes… it doesn’t leave much room for the complexity of human existence.”
Her most intimate release yet, viva venus is a four-track project that blends the emotional vulnerability of artists like Robyn and Jessie Ware with the electro edge of Róisín Murphy and Madonna. Tracks like “honeymoon suite” — co-written with members of Twin Atlantic — explore themes of escapism and emotional codependency, while “rush of love” pulses with dancefloor energy.
“My music is always a love letter to a female archetype,” says LALA. “In this case, Venus — the goddess of love, sex, fertility and victory. viva venus is about how love, self-worth, and empowerment exist in today’s world.”
