Joey Trap Releases New Album “Loyalty” and Shares The Official Video for Single “Brace“
The new album ‘Loyalty’ opens with his recent single ‘BRACE’, an arresting combination of pounding beats and commanding vocals, before title track ‘LOYALTY’ pairs similarly quickfire bars with majestic production. Spanish guitar-led singles ‘LICKED’, ‘YUCA’ and ‘BIRDIES’ then see Joey explore his Hispanic heritage, as does the aptly-titled ‘LA FAMILIA’. Closing track ‘AUTOBOT’ ensures LOYALTY maintains its intensity throughout.
Joey explains: “I made the title of this album LOYALTY because of my devotion to music and me being able to stay loyal to myself and continuing to follow my dreams along this same path where many have switched up on me. I like being diverse with most of my projects and putting a bunch of different vibe songs on the same album to show off my ability and to be diverse. But, with this project I wanted to keep strictly a specific sound that we’ve kind of developed over the past few years. I really have made a different West Coast/East Coast combination sound that I wanted to display for this album.
Featured along with the releases of the album, Joey shares the official video for ‘BRACE’, which is directed and edited by Joey himself. We see him narrowly escaping a motel ahead of an explosion, all done so nonchalantly with no sweat off his back, in typical Joey Trap fashion.
Joey added about the album: “I got to sing some autotune hooks and still hit some ignorant trap shit but all on the same vibe it was just really fun. The album features a bunch of ukulele tracks that were played live in the studio like the intro to ‘YUCA’ and ‘LICKED’. We just made it nice and crisp to enjoy some new yet somehow nostalgic music.”
Joey Trap has drawn comparisons to the likes of Tyler, The Creator, XXXtentacion and Travis Scott. He dropped no fewer than four albums in 2020 alone, most recently the 22-track release Playlist For The End Of The World (Deluxe), amassing hundreds of millions of streams in the process as his reputation continues to rise.
