iyla reveals powerful visual for “Corset,” the latest single from her debut album ‘Weeping Angel‘, out August 8.

Alt-R&B artist iyla brings her latest single “Corset” to vivid cinematic life with an official music video released today. As the creative director, iyla collaborated closely with director Justin Moser to craft a surreal and emotionally charged visual companion that expands on the themes of her upcoming debut album, Weeping Angel, out August 8.

The video draws direct inspiration from the album’s artwork, delivering a haunting and empowering aesthetic. Makeup and special effects were handled by Sasha Glasser, with additional work from Raylene Guzmán and styling from Carlos Aviles, culminating in a visually immersive experience.

“Corset” dives into the emotional complexities of entanglement — the track’s lyrical imagery paints a metaphor of a lover like a corset, wrapped tight but destined to unravel. The song was produced by longtime collaborator Kadis, and showcases iyla’s poetic songwriting and commanding vocal delivery.

The release of the video coincides with the formal announcement of Weeping Angel, a 13-track album born from deep personal loss. Following the passing of her mother, iyla channeled her grief into a body of work that is, in her own words, her most authentic yet.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve done, but this is different,” iyla shares. “A lot of it is because of the grief journey I experienced after my mom died… I’ve attained a level of confidence I didn’t have before.”

With “Corset,” iyla invites viewers into the emotional and visual universe of Weeping Angel, offering a taste of the raw honesty and power still to come.
