Introspekt drops new single “The Transmission” and sets release date for debut album “Moving The Center”, landing June 20 via Tempa.
LA-born, NYC-based producer and DJ Introspekt delivers a powerful new single, “The Transmission,” and announces her long-awaited debut album Moving The Center, arriving June 20 via iconic UK label Tempa.
A bold instrumental that melds dubstep heaviness with ballroom flair, “The Transmission” captures Introspekt’s unmistakable sonic identity—built on genre-blending, cultural reclamation, and femme energy. With a bassline that nods to classic South London dubstep and rhythmic nods to queer ballroom culture, the track is as cerebral as it is body-moving.
Introspekt has steadily gained a reputation as a vital force in global bass music, weaving UK garage, dubstep, and East Coast club through her lived experience as a Black transsexual lesbian. Her latest EP Tectónica laid the groundwork, and Moving The Center promises to fully realize that creative vision.
“Moving The Center embodies an alternate perspective to that which has been dominant in dance music, particularly so-called ‘bass music’,” says Introspekt. “The narrative it presents is one which throws a wrench in the seemingly common perception of Dubstep as a masculinist sensibility. Moving The Center pushes a feminine physicality to the front of the bassbins. Femmes to the front!”
From deep sub-bass to rich textures and unapologetic narrative, Moving The Center explores bass music through a global, diasporic, and feminist lens. With “The Transmission” leading the way, this is a vital statement from one of dance music’s most forward-thinking creators.
