Idia Aisien, the Nigerian-American actress known for her breakout film role in Nneka the Pretty Serpent, is set to make her long-awaited UK theatre debut in Dear Father. Running from June 12–14, 2025, at Fireworks Factory in Woolwich Works, London, the production brings together an acclaimed cast including Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Kunle Remi, and Tobi Bakre.
Her pivot to dramatic storytelling in 2020 firmly established her as one of Africa’s rising cinematic voices. Her performance in Nneka the Pretty Serpent displayed remarkable depth and helped usher her into leading roles.
Now, with Dear Father, Aisien takes a bold new step. The play confronts themes of love, grief, and generational trauma amid the backdrop of rising femicide in the UK. “This role came at a time when I was personally reflecting on the importance of the relationships that shape us—especially those with our parents, ” said Aisien.
She added, “Dear Father is more than a play; it’s a statement about love, loss, and the role fathers play in helping their daughters find their voice.”
As she enters the UK stage, Aisien continues championing African excellence and diversity through performance. Dear Father is poised to be a cultural milestone, echoing a broader movement of African storytelling on global stages.
