18-year-old multi-platinum pop singer-songwriter GAYLE and blackbear unveil new brilliant single “fmk” via Atlantic Records/Arthouse Records
Joining forces with multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer blackbear, the playfully chaotic duet arrives alongside a hilariously homicidal animated video, directed by award-winning Belgian director Chris Ullens (Rex Orange County, Poppy) and streaming now at YouTube.
“fmk (with blackbear)” marks the latest single from GAYLE’s upcoming EP, a study of the human experience volume two, out Friday, October 7. The EP was heralded earlier in August with the tongue-in-cheek first single, “indieedgycool” and the gripping “god has a sense of humor.” V raves, “Despite already earning a VMA nomination for Best New Artist, ‘indieedgycool’ is GAYLE’s best song to date, as she continues to nail down her indie, edgy, cool girl sound.” American Songwriter writes that “god has a sense of humor” “showcases the power of her songcraft… Introspective and irreverent, GAYLE gives listeners nothing but feelings with the new track.”
The “avoiding college tour” gets underway October 8 at Oklahoma City, OK’s Beer City Music Hall and then travels through mid-November; support comes from Carlie Hanson and poutyface. The “avoiding college tour” continues an extensive international live schedule that has already seen GAYLE traveling on her own sold-out headline run, shows alongside My Chemical Romance, and tours supporting Tate McRae and AJR. The 18-year-old, Nashville-based artist is currently lighting up an array of festival stages around the world, with recent performances at Lollapalooza and the UK’s Reading and Leeds, and upcoming performances set for Firefly Music Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival.
“abcdefu”, declared “the breakout song of 2022” by NYLON,“abcdefu” proved a landmark debut for GAYLE, holding #1 on the Billboard Global 200 for nine consecutive weeks while peaking at #3 on the Billboard “Hot 100” after spending three consecutive weeks atop Top 40 radio charts. Indeed, as Billboard wrote, “Few songs will end up being as defining for the past year in pop music as GAYLE’s breakout hit.” “abcdefu” is featured on GAYLE’s debut EP, a study of the human experience volume one.
In addition, GAYLE has received worldwide media attention spanning Rolling Stone, The New York Times, PEOPLE, Seventeen, ELLE, Teen Vogue, V, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden, and much more.
