FINNEAS drops “2001” music video with Kate Hudson. A playful nod to Kubrick’s classic, directed by Claudia Sulewski.
Multi-GRAMMY® and Academy Award winner FINNEAS shares the official video for his track “2001”, taken from his sophomore album For Cryin’ Out Loud! via Interscope Records. The video stars Kate Hudson and is directed by Claudia Sulewski, offering a whimsical and visually rich tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
In the video, FINNEAS plays a dreamy, love-struck actor whose attention is fully captured by his focused and indifferent director, portrayed by Hudson. Director Claudia Sulewski brought Kubrick’s iconic visuals to life with a modern twist.
“When I first started conceptualizing this music video, I knew I wanted to pay homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, with nods to some of the film’s most iconic set ups like the fisheye lens and the upside-down sequence, along with a few little easter eggs from the behind-the-scenes of the film… To play off Finneas’s lyrics, I wanted to mix in some light, cheeky moments between Finneas and Kate,” said Sulewski.
The release of “2001” follows FINNEAS’ SOLD-OUT headline tour through Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., and North America. He also earned critical acclaim for scoring Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV+ limited series Disclaimer—marking his debut in television composition.
Looking ahead, FINNEAS returns to Europe this summer for a series of major festival appearances across London, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and more, before making his way back stateside for Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Outside Lands.
