EthanUno unveils necesidad, a bold mix of hyperpop, R&B, and Latin influences, featuring all self-produced tracks, out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope.
EthanUno continues to break musical boundaries with the release of his debut solo EP, necesidad, out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope. The project blends hyperpop, Latin croon, glitchy dance, and experimental R&B, bringing a unique sound that defies categorization.
The previously unheard track “las mañanas” encapsulates EthanUno’s signature blend of raw emotion and futuristic production. Against a backdrop of lo-bit synth, digital blips, and a pulsating beat, his pitched-up vocals capture the struggle of moving on from heartbreak: “Wish that I could tell you, all the hell I went through / Just for you to mess it up, and say you never meant to.”
Each song on necesidad was written, produced, performed, and mastered by EthanUno in his home studio, creating a deeply personal project. From the club-ready house of “DQTC” to the syncopated IDM of “someone like u” and the anthemic “TLD”, the EP showcases his genre-blurring creativity.
Reflecting on the project, EthanUno shares:
“Signing to a major label has been one of the biggest growing up moments in my life. This moment has made me realize that everything we do in life is out of necessity. I’ve realized you can be f—ing with someone else’s life through your own fight for what you believe in — that’s the nature of necessity.”
With critical praise from Frank Ocean and Rosalía, plus previous singles “quemar,” “pecador,” and “tattoo” making waves, EthanUno is a name to watch as necesidad takes flight.
