Empara Mi Releases “Masochist,” A Dark, Cinematic Chapter from “Monsters & Masochists”

“Masochist” marks a bold new direction for Empara Mi as she explores anger and obsession through cinematic pop.

Visionary artist Empara Mi continues her transformative journey with the release of “Masochist,” the second chapter in her conceptual album Monsters & Masochists. Out now, the single reveals a darker, more explosive phase of the story, arriving with both sonic intensity and compelling visual storytelling.

Where Chapter 1 (“I Can’t”) embodied grief and surrender, “Masochist” confronts raw emotional chaos. Hypnotic synths, piano-driven drama, and haunting melodies guide the listener through a narrative of obsession and the pain of self-destruction.

“This song in particular I sort of went full ‘cinema’ on,” Empara Mi says. “I’ve always been very enamoured by the Bond movie soundtracks… My dream would be to actually do the song for Bond but for now this can be my audition.”

Empara Mi’s background in movement and visual arts is woven into every element of the release. In the “Masochist” video, she reimagines herself as a sword-wielding warrior—a symbol of strength and vulnerability. The video follows the success of “I Can’t,” which reached over 800k views within two weeks.

The full Monsters & Masochists project is designed as an emotional journey, with each song representing a different stage of grief and personal transformation. “Masochist” arrives as a pivotal moment in this arc, capturing Empara Mi’s fearless approach to both sound and storytelling.

With this release, she continues to redefine what it means to be a pop artist in 2025—blurring genre lines, pushing aesthetic limits, and inviting listeners deeper into her world.
