Elton John & Brandi Carlile release the video for “Swing For The Fences,” directed by Xavier Dolan, from their upcoming album Who Believes In Angels?.
Elton John and Brandi Carlile have unveiled the music video for their latest single, “Swing For The Fences.” The track, a soaring rock anthem infused with joy and determination, is the newest preview from their upcoming album, Who Believes In Angels?, set for release on April 4 via Interscope Records.
The video, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Xavier Dolan, features choreography by Damien Jalet and stars William Darby as a young man dancing freely in solitude. As the song builds in intensity, his movements become more impassioned, an expression of both liberation and longing. Eventually, he is joined by a lover, played by Abdalla Amour, bringing the video to an emotionally resonant close.
Dolan speaks on the inspiration behind the visual: “When Brandi and Elton reached out, the song’s message immediately stood out to me. Dance has always been a form of power in queer culture, and in today’s world, that power is being challenged. This video is about reclaiming it.”
Carlile describes Swing For The Fences as an anthem for queer youth: “Elton and I wanted to write a song that told young LGBTQ+ kids—go big, take risks, be fearless. This song is for them.” Elton adds, “This was the moment we knew where the album was going. It was the breakthrough.”
With its electrifying energy and powerful visuals, Swing For The Fences stands as a testament to self-expression. The video is now available to watch, and the single is streaming on all platforms.
