Domino Kirke releases the official video for “Teething,” a reflective piece highlighting childbirth and emotional growth.
Singer-songwriter and doula Domino Kirke has released the official music video for her intimate track “Teething”, expanding its emotional depth with a powerful visual companion. Originally featured on her 2020 album The Most Familiar Star, the song recently found renewed visibility after soundtracking a pivotal scene in Netflix’s hit series YOU.
The new video, directed by Gregory Mitnick, captures the emotional resonance of the song while offering a candid look at high school students learning about childbirth. It’s a striking concept that echoes Kirke’s dual identities as a musician and doula.
“For as long as I’ve worked as a Doula, I’ve felt it was vitally important for high schoolers to have not only Sex Education but also Childbirth Education,” Kirke shares. The video aims to address that gap by portraying the vulnerability and reality of birth in a meaningful, artistic context.
Produced by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear and co-written with Timo Ellis, “Teething” explores motherhood through sparse yet impactful production. The track’s emotional honesty and poetic delivery have drawn comparisons to artists like Feist and Sharon Van Etten.
With its recent resurgence on Netflix and a visually compelling new music video, “Teething” reaffirms Domino Kirke’s place as a voice of nuance and courage in today’s music landscape.
