Darren Kiely delivers a powerful double release with “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road,” out now via Free Flight Records. With his signature introspective songwriting, Kiely explores themes of memory, love, and the passage of time, offering listeners two deeply relatable narratives.
“Mulcair Road” is an uplifting yet wistful track, featuring bright guitar strumming and evocative lyrics about returning to a childhood place that feels different with time. Co-written with Ross Ellis, Joe Fox, and Geoff Warburton, the song perfectly captures the feeling of nostalgia and change. “It describes the expectation of familiarity and safety but the realization that time has passed and what you left isn’t there anymore,” Kiely shares.
Meanwhile, “Old & Grey” leans into a more solemn tone, with its mid-tempo melody and melancholic whistle backdrop enhancing the song’s raw emotion. Written with Joe Fox and Geoff Warburton, the song explores the longing and identity shifts that come with losing a loved one. “It expresses how we can lose our identity without those we love the most,” Kiely explains.
These new releases arrive as Kiely continues his Never Been Here Before World Tour, bringing his heartfelt music to fans across the globe. With “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road,” he delivers another compelling showcase of his songwriting talent.
Both tracks are available now on all major streaming platforms.
