Courtney Hadwin drops funk-fueled track “D.N.A.” ahead of debut album Little Miss Jagged, out September 12.

Courtney Hadwin is back in bold form with her new single “D.N.A.” — a wild, funk-inspired anthem that showcases another dimension of the artist’s dynamic sound. Released ahead of her long-awaited debut album Little Miss Jagged (arriving September 12), “D.N.A.” reveals a fearless voice evolving into her own creative lane.

Co-written with Grammy-winning producer Kevin Bowe (Etta James, Joe Cocker), “D.N.A.” takes a detour from traditional structure, embracing a groove-heavy foundation laced with chaotic charm. With every shout, falsetto flourish, and rhythm-charged run, Hadwin leans fully into the sonic rebellion of funk and soul.

“‘D.N.A.’ is probably one of the most fun songs I’ve written,” Courtney shares. “It has no real song structure and it really captures the thoughts and feelings that come with the obsessive nature of a crush but filled with humour, but still carrying that funk and soul throughout the song.”

From her viral start on America’s Got Talent to the sharp direction of “D.N.A.,” Hadwin’s journey has been marked by growth and artistry, not shortcuts. Her debut album promises a wide stylistic range—from the grit of ’60s R&B to the punch of pop-punk—while remaining grounded in her unmistakable voice and unfiltered delivery.

Following standout tracks like “You Only Love Me When I Lie” and “Spellbound,” “D.N.A.” confirms Hadwin is just getting started—and she’s doing it her way.
