Popstar on the rise, Christy goes for a new emotional single ‘A Better Place’ taken from his forthcoming acoustic EP.
The new single ‘‘A Better Place’’ captured entirely live and based around a lugubrious piano with Christy’s instantly recognisable vocals sailing over the top, flitting between a heart-wrenching falsetto and rustic croon, interjecting layers of poignant strings help illustrate the bittersweet melancholy Christy has become so adept at crafting.
Christy explains, “‘A Better Place’ is very nostalgic for me. This was the first song I wrote that kicked off my whole musical journey,” Christy remembers. “I wrote it 4 years ago, while I was working in Paris at a time in my life where everything was changing rapidly and going very fast-paced. Looking back on that now, I remember it as one of the best times in my life. For this reason ‘A Better Place’ means a hell of a lot to me, so we decided to record it as a live take to capture the most raw, emotive performance.“
Earlier this year, Christy released some non-stop hits like “Forever”, ‘Burned Out’ and a magnificent Performance Video of “Forever”.
Christy has gone from zero to well over a million streams on Spotify alone. To achieve such a feat is commendable at the best of times, but Christy managed to grasp success from the jaws of a pandemic stricken music industry, his songs striking a chord with audiences all around the world. “I didn’t know how the EP would be received, but to have that reception, I was really chuffed,” he says.
The rising star says, “Music has something to do, something to focus on,” he explains, “it has felt like a new lease of life when there’s not much else going on – it’s kept me sane. But not being able to play live has been strange – that’s like breathing air to me and I miss the interaction with real people.”
