Caity Baser unveils ‘There, I Said It’ | A deeply personal EP blending raw honesty with lush live instrumentation
Caity Baser has unveiled her brand new EP ‘There, I Said It’, a bold and transformative release that reveals a more vulnerable side of the rising pop talent. Out now via Capitol Records UK/Chosen Music, the project spans eight tracks and showcases both emotional depth and musical maturity.
Known for earlier hits like ‘Friendly Sex’, ‘X&Y’, and the UK Top 40 single ‘Pretty Boys’, Caity introduces a strikingly different sound on this EP. Drawing from influences such as Etta James, Connie Francis, and Nat ‘King’ Cole, she recorded the project entirely with live instruments, creating a lush soundscape infused with elements of jazz, Motown, and musical theatre.
Thematically, the EP confronts experiences Caity has rarely spoken about publicly, including childhood trauma, family struggles, and first love. Her songwriting embraces metaphor and characterisation, marking a new chapter of artistic growth.
Speaking about the project, Caity shares:
“I’m finally in a place where I feel ready to release this special collection of songs I’ve been working on. It’s hugely important to me and contains some difficult feelings – I feel really excited to explore a more vulnerable side of me and talk about things that are a part of who I am. This EP is all about the things I’ve never spoken about; the things I taught myself to be ashamed of.”
Among the standout moments is new single ‘Weight Of You (I’m Glad You Died)’, which Caity describes as one of the most significant songs of her career so far. Paired with strings and piano, the track balances empowerment with haunting vulnerability. With ‘There, I Said It’, Caity Baser emerges as an artist unafraid to be truly herself, offering fans an intimate portrait through sound and storytelling.
