“Horror Movie” by Ally Salort is a darkly poetic dive into love as a thriller. Out now via Disruptor/RCA Records.
Singer-songwriter Ally Salort delivers a new dose of emotionally charged pop with her latest release, “Horror Movie,” out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. A powerful blend of intimate songwriting and cinematic metaphor, the track builds on her established style—where raw emotion meets haunting melodies.
“Horror Movie” presents a gripping narrative, using the framework of a scary film to explore the agony of returning to a harmful relationship. “Horror movie is one big metaphor for going back to a person that will hurt you every time,” Ally says. “Opening the door (the relationship) that everyone around you is screaming for you to not open; very similar to the girl that dies first in every scary film. I had the lines ‘I’m damned if I do but I’ll be more damned if I don’t’ and from there we wrote the chorus. Can’t wait for people to hear the whole thing!”
Salort’s journey began in Maplewood, NJ, where early musical inspiration led her to voice lessons at age seven. Her drive took her to LA at 14 through a talent search program and sparked a loyal digital following on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Influenced by artists such as Ariana Grande and Fiona Apple, her sound is emotional, fresh, and deeply relatable.
Currently working on her debut EP, Salort continues her artistic rise following a European tour with Mackenzy Mackay.
