Alessi Rose drops powerful debut single “Same Mouth,” previewing her EP Voyeur coming July 25 via Capitol Records.
Alessi Rose arrives with force and finesse on her Capitol Records debut, “Same Mouth,” a raw, guitar-driven alt-pop track that introduces the rising artist’s forthcoming EP Voyeur, due July 25. The new single is now available on all streaming platforms alongside a visual lyric video.
Bringing an unfiltered lyrical approach, “Same Mouth” offers a candid look into the ambiguity and tension of emotionally complex relationships. “Same Mouth” was produced by Josh Scarbrow (Arlo Parks) and Sam De Jong (Gracie Abrams, Lennon Stella), and offers a sonically cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of 2000s indie-pop anthems.
“‘Same Mouth’ is me confronting the hypocrisy of an ambiguous relationship but it’s also about the abandonment of self and the idea that if I’m aware of what I’m getting myself into, then maybe I’m not the victim, and maybe I’m actually in control,” Alessi shares.
The track’s blend of emotional nuance and infectious melody underlines the 22-year-old Londoner’s growing reputation for fearless songwriting. With references to pain and control—”It’s kinda masochistic / I’ll hurt myself so you fix it”—the song embodies the EP’s theme of self-observation and confessional storytelling.
Voyeur promises to push Alessi’s artistry further with production from names like John Hill (Cage the Elephant, Carly Rae Jepsen) and Sammy Witte (SZA, Halsey). The project sets the tone for a compelling debut era, one shaped by Alessi’s desire to be, in her words, “outrageously myself.”
