Ezra blends 2000s pop nostalgia with raw heartache on ‘Intermission’ | A piano-driven single rooted in longing
Ezra introduces the next chapter of his career with “Intermission”, a piano-pop single filled with yearning, emotion, and sonic nods to the late-‘90s/early-2000s era. Released via TAG Music, the song kicks off the rollout toward Ezra’s full-length debut album, slated for 2026.
Anchored by rich piano chords and swelling emotional tension, “Intermission” weaves together alt-pop vulnerability with nostalgic melodies. Ezra leans fully into that blend with a vocal delivery that channels raw heartbreak and inner conflict.
“‘Intermission’ was written about the one person that, no matter how long it’s been, will always be who you compare every new relationship to,” Ezra explains. “My FIRST EVER girlfriend that I haven’t seen since high school visited LA this past February and it reminded me how everyone else I meet could never fill the void she left. It got me wishing that the time we’re spending apart now is just an intermission for what I’m yearning for — a happy ending for us.”
The release is also paired with a uniquely structured companion mockumentary, created in collaboration with actor-director David Mazouz (Gotham). The episodic series unfolds alongside each new song leading to the album, with the first clip already live. The mockumentary fuses satire with self-awareness, offering both behind-the-scenes humor and emotional insight. Cameos include Gabe Saporta, Morgan Cohen, and Mazouz himself.
Having already toured with Carlie Hanson and Braden Bales, Ezra has gained a reputation for emotionally charged live performances and writing that balances intimacy with cinematic flair.
With “Intermission”, Ezra lays the groundwork for a debut project that’s steeped in feeling, wrapped in nostalgia, and shaped by personal storytelling—defining his vision for the future of alternative pop.
