CHINCHILLA unveils video for new single “Avoidance” and shares fall headline tour dates across Europe.
London alt-pop artist CHINCHILLA has released the emotionally charged video for her latest single “Avoidance.” Directed by Claryn Chong, the visual captures a symbolic descent into emotional overwhelm, set against a backdrop of heartbreak and anxiety. The video brings to life the song’s unfiltered vulnerability, enhanced by styling from Holly Wood and designs by Keko Hainswheeler, known for his iconic work with artists like Madonna and Lady Gaga.
The single, which dropped on June 5th, was inspired by a deeply personal moment. CHINCHILLA recalls receiving a triggering message en route to a writing session — an experience that shaped “Avoidance” in just 45 minutes. The track quickly earned praise from tastemakers like CLASH, MTV, Dork, and Official Charts.
In CHINCHILLA’s own words: “‘Avoidance’ was written when I was going through a really rough break up and received a message in a cab on my way to a writing session, which sent me into an anxiety attack… I fall backwards taking it into a more otherworldly space, a perfect metaphor for that stomach drop anxiety attack feeling… and I guess the complexities of those emotions.”
The video follows three sold-out headline shows and her recent support slot on Justin Timberlake’s European stadium dates. Looking ahead, CHINCHILLA will support G Flip on their 2025 US tour and headline her own European tour this fall. Presale starts today at 9AM, with general sale opening Monday.
