Adam Klobi releases “RUT,” a moving alt-folk single exploring cycles of pain and vulnerability.

Toronto-based artist Adam Klobi returns with his third single, “RUT,” a track that dives deep into themes of despair, emotional repetition, and the lingering weight of unresolved feelings. The song follows the emotional groundwork laid in his first two releases, “Dinner” and “Rain.”

“RUT” offers a stark narrative from the opening line, “Long ride home again on that same old yellow line,” immediately evoking the loneliness of routine and the ache of mental fatigue. The chorus deepens that introspection, questioning personal direction with lines like “am I running in place” and “am I pushing my luck?” The emotional pull intensifies as the post-chorus introduces the persistent echo of feelings that “follow me home.”

As with his earlier releases, Klobi shared the song’s development through lyric-focused social media content, a strategy that originally helped “Dinner” catch fire online. The heartfelt, unfiltered approach continues to resonate with his growing audience.

Though new to music, Klobi’s backstory is anything but ordinary. His musical path began just last year, sparked by a spontaneous Uber singalong and a borrowed guitar. That brief moment led to a rapid rise on TikTok and eventually to a partnership with Darkroom Records, home to artists like Billie Eilish.

In recent months, Klobi has been shaping his alt-folk sound in Los Angeles while building a loyal following through covers and personal content. One notable moment includes his cover of Coldplay’s “Sparks,” which has now surpassed 245,000 views.

“The common theme for this body of work is that sense of growing up and feeling like you’re supposed to have it all figured out,” Klobi shares. “No one talks about the fact that no one has it figured out.”
