Sebastian Schub’s “Scared of Screaming” sets the tone for his debut EP, out June 6th via Island EMI.
Sebastian Schub, the rising German-born artist who’s captivated audiences from London’s streets to global streaming charts, has released his moving new single “Scared of Screaming” via Island EMI / Capitol Records. Produced by Dann Hume, the track blends somber introspection with a soaring vocal delivery.
“Scared of Screaming” is the first taste of Schub’s debut EP Sing Like Madonna, arriving June 6. “I think Scared of Screaming is more dear to me than any song on this EP,” he shares. “The lyrics were slowly gathering on a note on my phone… Dann got out his sweet and sultry baritone guitar and two hours later the song was done.”
Having started his career busking in London after dropping out of music school, Schub’s artistry was forged not in studios but on sidewalks. It was late at night—when the crowds thinned—that he discovered his voice and honed his craft. Since then, he’s gone viral on TikTok and attracted collaborators including Steve Fitzmaurice, Rob Kirwan, and Dann Hume.
This summer, he’ll play headline shows in New York and Los Angeles and join Noah Kahan at BST Hyde Park on July 4. With Sing Like Madonna, Sebastian Schub presents a body of work steeped in life, language, and lyricism. “Scared of Screaming” is a vivid glimpse into that journey.
