Samantha Fish drops “Paper Doll,” an album of fearless guitar work, emotional insight, and bold energy.
Samantha Fish, praised by Rolling Stone as “a genuine force of sonic prowess,” has released her much-anticipated solo album Paper Doll via Rounder Records. Produced by Bobby Harlow, Paper Doll showcases Fish’s fearless blend of rock, soul, and her signature electrifying guitar style.
Fish will celebrate Paper Doll with a national TV debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, performing the standout track “Lose You.” Marked by a blistering guitar solo and “sizzling slide escapades” (Premier Guitar), “Lose You” captures the album’s spirit. Fish shares, “It’s my way of saying, ‘I’m on fire and you’re not, so what are you gonna do about it?’”
Paper Doll is a nine-track journey packed with emotionality and strength, with Fish “stretching idiomatic boundaries” (Nashville Scene). The album’s title underscores its defiant energy: “It’s about rebelling against other people’s expectations of who you’re supposed to be,” says Fish.
The album was recorded at The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in Los Angeles with her touring band—Ron Johnson (bass), Jamie Douglass (drums), and Mickey Finn (keys)—capturing the “raw, electric charm” (Blues Rock Review) honed on the road.
Following the Grammy-nominated success of Death Wish Blues, which topped the Billboard Blues Chart, Fish continues her upward trajectory with Paper Doll. She is currently touring North America, with notable performances at JazzFest and dates alongside Kingfish.
