BANKS releases “Love Is Unkind,” a raw and emotional track about toxic love, from her upcoming album “Off With Her Head”, out February 28.
Global singer-songwriter BANKS is back with her latest single, “Love Is Unkind,” available now via ADA Worldwide. The song explores the painful dynamics of an emotionally toxic relationship, reflecting BANKS’ ability to turn personal experiences into compelling music.
Describing the track, BANKS says: “‘Love Is Unkind’ is about an emotionally dangerous relationship that had me running around in circles. It’s about how love can be unkind and masochistic. Rewinding your memory and seeing things clearly.”
“Love Is Unkind” pairs its raw lyrics with dark, brooding production reminiscent of BANKS’ debut album, Goddess. The single previews her forthcoming fifth studio album, Off With Her Head, which she describes as a spiritual successor to her debut: “In many ways, it’s a big sister album to Goddess. After a decade apart, I’ve reunited with the core musicians and producers who helped shape my debut. At the same time, it’s something entirely different—I’ve grown so much as an artist and a person, and the journey is documented in all these sounds.”
Set for release on February 28, 2025, Off With Her Head will include previous singles “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” featuring Doechii and “Best Friends.” Fans can pre-order the album now, including a special vinyl edition on brown LP.
“Love Is Unkind” continues to showcase BANKS’ signature style of introspection and emotional depth, building excitement for what promises to be a standout chapter in her career.
