Dark electronic artist Poni releases Hellscape, a three-track EP blending gothic lyricism and midtempo bass. Listen now.
Dark electronic artist Poni has released Hellscape, her debut EP on HypnoVizion. The project, now streaming on all platforms, combines haunting melodies, midtempo bass, and gothic storytelling to create an immersive listening experience.
Featuring three original tracks, Hellscape explores themes of torment, despair, and destruction. Collaborators on the EP include twin sister duo Satin Puppets on “Leeches” and Nashville singer-songwriter Notelle on “Leave You in the Dark,” with Poni herself providing vocals on “Conceptual Reality.” The trio of songs draws listeners into a shadowy world of visceral emotion and compelling soundscapes.
Poni describes the concept behind Hellscape: “Calamitous times and places that are void of hope, Hellscape tells a story of three vastly unpleasant circumstances. Vengeance and how the murdered haunts the murderer. Heartbreak and being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, ultimately leaving them to ruin their own lives. Despair and how lost and brainwashed society is. All of which are tied together by the sinister workings of Apep, the demon of darkness and destruction (my reimagination). Is there really no hope though? That’s up for interpretation.”
With its brooding aesthetic and innovative sound, Hellscape positions Poni as a rising star in the dark electronic genre. Stream the EP today and experience its captivating themes for yourself.
