Rising trilingual singer-songwriter Yael Danon unveils new brilliant debut album “Diary Girl”
Along with the album, Yael has shared her music video for the single “90 Days,” which can be viewed on YouTube.
Yael says: “When Tommy Torres asked me what I wanted to talk about in this new song I wasn’t quite sure where to start,” “We wanted it to be personal and so the question popped up, ‘Yael, is there any guy in your life?’ I told him about my first boyfriend, the typical best-friends-to-lovers story, and how I was scared to date him because I was scared to lose a friend. So, we thought a 90 day trial for the relationship would be a good idea (it was a ridiculous one, I realize that now) and that’s how ‘90 Days’ was born.”
The album weaves in and out of several genres, touching on pop, rock, Latin, and alternative sensibilities, and is a compilation of pages from Yael’s diary expressed through music. It covers everything from toxic relationships, anxiety, fear of missing out, and messy breakups, and has a unique storytelling style that allows Yael’s audience to create their own image of each character and story, and connect it to their life events making these relatable.
Yael adds: “Throughout the album I discover myself, through every story of each song is a lesson learned about myself, my emotions, and life,” “The album goes through a journey of emotions, I experience first love, my first breakup, start missing my friends and fearing their loss in my life, start to go through more anxiety, and even struggle to let go. Every emotion is felt so deeply and every song makes me feel naked in a way. I thought I wasn’t prepared to expose myself through some of these songs, but today I can say that the best thing that could happen to me is having the opportunity to share my experiences and my lessons with those who are streaming Diary Girl.”
Yael started writing and singing her first songs by the age of 8, after deciding to take her purple little diary to her music teacher. She decided she wanted to perform in the school’s talent show, and since then hasn’t stopped. Whether it was in concerts or musicals, the stage felt like a second home to her.
On a family vacation in Israel, Yael found out about auditions for Israel’s Got Talent. Hesitant at first, she decided to audition and finally won the Youth Category of Israel’s Got Talent at the age of 13. After the show, she decided it was time for her to release her own music. After the success of her 2022 singles “Teddy Bear,” “FOMO,” and “I Don’t Miss You At All,” Yael is bringing her first full project to fruition in 2023 in the form of Diary Girl.
