Wiz Khalifa celebrates 10 years anniversary of his iconic album “Rolling Papers” with a deluxe version of the album
To commemorate the occasion, ROLLING PAPERS will be available later this year in a brand new vinyl release, with limited edition color variants including Blue Vinyl with Heavy Splatter (available at music retailers nationwide) and Green Vinyl with a Black Smoke Effect, available exclusively via Wiz’s official webstore; pre-orders are available now.
In addition, a Spotify Fans First Exclusive edition on “Highlighter Yellow” Vinyl with a Black Smoke Effect will be available for pre-order on the album’s official anniversary, Monday, March 29th. In addition, ROLLING PAPERS will be reintroduced entirely with never before released tracks (on DSPs), including “Black & Yellow ‘G-MIx’ (Feat. Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain),” “Stoned,” “Middle of You (feat. Chevy Woods, Nikkiya and Poo Bear)” and “Taylor Gang.” As if that weren’t enough, Wiz Khalifa is unveiling “Hopes & Dreams” with a standout verse from the late icon Nipsey Hussle.
Wiz Khalifa album ‘ROLLING PAPERS’ instantly affirmed him as a major talent and worldwide superstar, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” and “Top Rap Albums” charts as well as at #2 on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200 – at the time, Khalifa’s highest chart debut thus far. Now boasting over 1.7B worldwide streams, ROLLING PAPERS went on to earn 2x RIAA platinum certification and “Best New Artist” wins at both 2011’s BET Awards and 2012’s Billboard Music Awards.
Hailed by Rolling Stone for “warmly luxuriating in the space between pop’s fresh-faced exuberance and hip-hop’s easy arrogance,” ROLLING PAPERS showcased the Pittsburgh, PA-based rapper’s one-of-a-kind stoner style, sound, and charisma on such classic tracks as the 6x RIAA platinum-certified #1 blockbuster, “Black and Yellow,” as well as the 2x platinum-certified hits “Roll Up“ and “No Sleep,” the latter of which proved a top 10 smash on Billboard’s “Hot 100” – Khalifa’s third highest charting single to date. As if that weren’t enough, ROLLING PAPERS includes the platinum-certified “On My Level (Feat. Too $hort)“ and RIAA gold-certified bonus track, “Taylor Gang (Feat. Chevy Woods).”
With digital sales now exceeding 4.1M, “Black and Yellow” proved a worldwide pop culture milestone, joined by an official music video currently boasting over 315M views via YouTube alone. What’s more, the track was featured at 2011’s Super Bowl XLV as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ official fight song with Lil Wayne creating a “Green and Yellow” remix for the competing Green Bay Packers – the first time both Super Bowl teams had used the same song for their official anthem. A number of remixes and remakes have since followed, paying tribute to local sports teams spanning the Los Angeles Lakers to Italy’s AC Milan.
ROLLING PAPERS also includes an additional guest appearance from Curren$y on the fan favorite “Rooftops,” with Nikkiya and MDMA also featured on a deluxe edition bonus track. In fact, the late Nipsey Hussle was originally featured on “Hopes and Dreams,” this version never having been released due to clearance issues, despite the two farsighted rapper/entrepreneurs’ long friendship and close personal bond. Now, fans everywhere can check out his verse with the unveiling of ROLLING PAPER’S deluxe edition.
