Exciting star-in-the-making Valencia Grace reaches out on heartfelt new song “There I Said It”
The sublime yet melancholic, bitter-sweet new song is available immediately via Ministry of Sound (UK) / Columbia (US). It can also be heard on tour this year when Valencia supports fellow newcomer Renforshort.
Valencia sings: “We went from strangers smiling in a picture, to confronting silence over dinner again”
She says: “I love the writing in this song. The writing is one of the most conversational and realistic I’ve ever been. It hurts every time I sing it because of that but it means that you can really feel the passion in the lyrics, so more people resonate with it.“
She adds: The lyrics ‘we went from strangers smiling in a picture, to confronting silence over dinner again’ are among some of Valencia’s own track favorites. “I love this line because it’s very true and exposing. I remember feeling the come-up in this relationship I was in, and exactly when it tipped and started to fall. God, it was awful. When you’re faced with “the talk” and you already know exactly how it’s gonna end before it even starts.”
She also adds: “I gave a lot of myself to this person. My time, my energy. I even knew we would reach a dead end but for some reason, I just didn’t care. I told myself it would be worth it, worth suffering. It would tell a more exciting story, right? I guess I must’ve been in love. That’s what the song is about.”
She continues: “I know this line is simple but, ‘strangers smiling in a picture to confronting silence over dinner’ paints the whole circle from the first kiss to the last eye gaze and really just sums up the entire demise of my relationship.”
Fans of Valencia will be able to watch Valencia play live in the UK & Europe when she opens up for Renforshort in November.
