Global Afropop Icon Tekno is back with his new album ‘Old Romance‘ which features 14 tracks project
The new album “Old Romance” from the global star is mixed and remastered by Selebobo aka Mix Monsta, and follows his recent track release “Enjoy” which included a music video shot by Award Winning Nigerian music video director and cinematographer, TG Omori (Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide). The single celebrates the joy and sets to lift the mood of his listeners, much like the album in its entirety.
Tenko shares about the new album, “I’m very happy for everyone to finally hear my debut album – I had to dig in deep to pull this together in the midst of a year that has been very difficult for everyone, from the pandemic to protests across the world, I really wanted to create a body of work that really express the need for unity and joy. I hope that “Old Romance” gives listeners a moment to stop and enjoy themselves as everyone deserves that – no matter how temporary.”
The story of the new album tells of the romantic journey of two young lovers, from the moments they first cross paths; through their inevitable challenges; all the way to the other side where they celebrate their wins and celebrate their love. The debut album offers listeners a feel-good journey through love’s peaks and troughs.
He has also produced chart-topping hits for Davido (IF) and Swae Lee and Drake (Won’t Be Late). Many will be shocked to discover “Old Romance”, will be his first official body of work – however, this album in its parts and its entirety couldn’t have come at a better time.
Tekno has over 119 global artist streams and almost a decade of solid hits under his belt and is certainly one to watch. Best known for songs such as “Pana” which has rack over 142 million YouTube views and “Don’t Jealous Me” featured on Beyonce’s Black Is King album.
The new album “Old Romance” dives head and heart first into a classic Nollywood-esque romance, inspired by “stories of our ancestors, that will ignite a generation that seems lost on love, to love again”. In these unprecedented times, where people are trying to find moments of positivity and joy, and work their way back to love, “Old Romance” presents a palate cleanser; an opportunity to escape, no matter how briefly.
