Out Now Magazine Spotlight series featuring pop star on the rise XoBrooklynne for an exclusive interview
Hi! My name is Brooklynne Webb, or XoBrooklynne. I’m 17 years old, and just moved to Los Angeles! I’m an influencer, content creator, dancer, body positivity advocate, and aspiring actress and model!! You can start following me on Instagram: @brooklynnexo and Tik Tok: @xobrooklynne
Where are you from?
I’m Victoria, BC in Canada, and grew up there most of my life! I just officially moved to Los Angeles!
When did you start making music?
I had this idea to release music for about a year and a half now – and I was working on getting it exactly right. It took a while to plan out, especially with the music video which I really wanted to go all out for! However, I’ve done dance and musical theatre for most of my life, especially in school!
How do you describe your music?
Fun, sassy, and high energy – something you can dance to and feel confident about yourself listening to!
Favorite moment from your career?
I honestly think being able to be an advocate for body positivity both on Tik Tok but also in the press has been so important to me. I like to have a lot of fun on Tik Tok and be silly sometimes, but real things like mental health and social causes are really the things that are important to me.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
Ariana Grande is my all time fav. I’d also say Xtina and Billie Eilish are up there for me too!!
What other things do you do besides making music?
I’m definitely trying to break into modeling come 2022 and have found that to be a real passion of mine!! I really want to show people of any size, looks, or measurements can chase their dreams and be on camera. I love creating content on Tik Tok, and looking to do more vlogging and long form stuff in 2022!
What is your favorite track of all time?
Anything from the Burlesque soundtrack I am in love with!!
What is your best-producing tip?
Just try your best and don’t listen to anyone telling you not to chase your dreams! Really with anything, not just music! And find a good team to make music with you!! You don’t have to be alone. I’m lucky to work with Frawley, Jillian Rossi, and Alec Zeilon who helped me make this song and throughout the whole process!!
Why did you start making music?
I started making music because I thought it would be a fun little journey for me, and I had so many video ideas, and a BIG music video idea!! I knew no one would expect it and I think there’s a lot of surprises that can come out of that!
What are your goals for the future?
Definitely modeling, continuing to build my following, and more importantly especially in 2022 expanding my personality in 2022 so people can see the real me, and continue to stand up for actionable social change, body positivity, mental health in Gen Z and more!!
What advice can you give for young music producers/DJs?
Be consistent and don’t let your future success be dictated by just the first few days or weeks trying something new!! Trust yourself and trust in the process and good things will happen!
Please write a message to your fans.
