Out Now Magazine Spotlight series featuring TX for an exclusive interview
I am a 19-year-old, Half Greek, and Half English Rap / Trap artist from Bristol, UK.
Tell us about yourself, when did you start making music?
I’ve always been musical since a little kid, born into a musical family. As I grew older and experienced new genres of music I began experimenting with writing of all different kinds of genres like Pop and Rock. Eventually, I stepped into the world of Rap and Hip Hop but with a twist of adding pop melodies and harmonies onto a rap / trap beat, creating my own kind of style whilst taking inspiration from current melodic rap e.g Roddy Ricch, Post Malone etc.
How do you describe your music?
The birth. I am only 2 years into the Rap game and accomplished way more than I would ever have anticipated before I started my music career in general and that has given me a drive like no other to carry on achieving and succeeding.
Favorite moment from your career?
My favourite moment in my career so far is probably got to be the release of my latest single “Bad Habits” which is my first official release of 2021. It was fun to record as well as shooting the short visualiser for the music video (Which is out now by the way!) the melodies, the beat… everything about that song screams summer 2021 and that was the goal for this song.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
I like to draw inspiration from a lot of different sources. Musically, I am influenced by a number of different artists but the most notable are Roddy Ricch, Lil Wayne and Nafe Smallz. The way they all melodically spit raps speaks to me and it’s definitely touches my music when I create too.
I’m mainly inspired by a few of the music moguls such as Rick Ross. His musical genius is one thing, but the game he drops has motivated me like no other and his entrepreneurial mindset is crazy man. If you don’t feel like waking up that little bit earlier or going the extra mile no matter what it is you’re doing in life when you listen to his music or his interviews I feel like you’ve already lost.
What is your producing software?
I have a pretty well-set-up home studio with the standard Rode Mic and Rocket Speakers. Nothing too crazy but it gets the job done.
What is your favorite track of all time?
It’s got to be “Hustler Musik” by Lil Wayne. That song inspired the F*ck out of me and Waynes’ wordplay is incredible.
Why did you start making music?
I wanted to just tell my story and express how I feel through what I love to do. I also really want to inspire as many people as I can to do more, do better and chase their dreams because you literally only have one life. I feel like a lot of people forget this. Do what you love and fck what anyone else says because they ain’t sht.
What are your goals for the future?
To collaborate with some of the biggest rappers in the game, inspire many on my journey and live comfortably whilst giving back to my family and friends in whatever way I can. Owning a few nice places around the world for sure especially in my town in Greece is a priority too.
What advice can you give for young music producers/DJs?
Keep going. whatever happens just keep going. Don’t compare and don’t chase something that’s too far yet. Take risks and be kind to yourself as well as upcoming producers, artists, whoever it may be whilst you’re coming up and when you’re at the top.
Please write a message to your fans.
