Out Now Magazine Spotlight series featuring rising star Robinson for an interview
Where are you from?
I was born in Greymouth, then moved to Nelson when I was 13 for highschool!
When did you start making music?
I was always singing as a child but really started writing my own music in my early teens. Before that, it was a lot of poems hahaha.
How do you describe your music?
I would describe my music as soul filled moments of deep reflection hehe! I like to really go within when I’m writing, and sometimes there’s an essence of magic in the air that allows you to capture something special.
Favorite moment from your career?
There has been a multitude of beautiful moments in my career so far. I think the most important has been my 2 years home from early 2020 to late 2021. It changed the whole trajectory of my project and allowed to me connect to myself Mind, Body and Soul. This has helped me to become the artist I always wanted to be.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
My biggest inspirations now are Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks and Davie Bowie. I feel they capture something otherworldy.

Who did you work with on the new single?
I worked on Teenage Renegade with the incredible Tyler Spry and Areli Castro.
What other things do you do besides making music?
I love to cook, workout, sleep, dance… I love being in nature too!!! It’s so good for the mind and soul.
What is your favorite track of all time?
I have soooo many but an all-time favourite is Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears. It makes me want to dance in the most chaotic way hahaha. Watch out dance floors.
What is your best song writing tip?
Art is a byproduct of living, without the living there is no art. Allow time to really find yourself, get to know yourself and let life teach you. The songwriting will flow as you do it more, and find your own style.
Why did you start making music?
I started making music because of the unbelievable desire I had to do so. I just couldn’t fight that feeling that it was truly what I was meant to do. It brings me so much joy and freedom.
What are your goals for the future?
I want to keep writing music that reflects my life experience, and keep my heart and soul at the forefront of everything I do. I want to get to performing as soon as I can!!
What advice can you give for young music producers/DJs?
Keep believing in yourself! You are your biggest support and you have to back yourself all the way! It’s so hard to do that sometimes, but if you can learn to build that inner self confidence… that will take you so far.
Please write a message to your fans.
