Out Now Magazine Spotlight series featuring asche for an exclusive interview
Where are you from?
I identify as a New Yorker although I was born in Brazil from an italian family, but have lived in New York my whole adult life.
When did you start making music?
I have been a creator ever since I can remember, but I didn’t start making music until I was 15. That was very introspective, writing and producing in my room secretly under a comforter so no one would hear me. It took me years to even show any of my friends the music I was making, I was dealing with mental health issues back then and just didn’t feel comfortable sharing that vulnerable side of me that no one knew.
How do you describe your music?
Bops with a purpose, I love writing and producing music that is catchy but with a deeper and relatable meaning. Sonically, “Genius” once described my sound as “Emo Trap” so I’m going with that.
Favorite moment from your career?
I’ve just dropped my third single on August 13th
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
It varies between classic acts and contemporary, but Elvis Presley have always been my main inspiration. The Weeknd and Post Malone are my two biggest influences when it comes to my actual sound.
What other things do you do besides making music?
I’m very much into visual arts like photography, videography, and editing. Which is a handy skill set to have as I produce all of my visual content as well.
What is your producing software?
Logic Pro, all the way.
What is your favorite track of all time?
Monster by Kanye West and Bon Iver, that song is so timeless and the production is phenomenal.
What is your best-producing tip?
Best producing tip would be, find one element that inspires the theme for a certain track, then build around it. If you write sad lyrics, start pulling from those emotions.
Why did you start making music?
I started making music because it was an outlet for me to express my feelings at a time when I felt I couldn’t. But also I felt a lack of commercial songs with great lyrics. And that has become my goal, to include real life subjects such as mental health into my music to help normalize them.
What are your goals for the future?
My short term goal is to release my debut album before the end of 2021, my long term goal is to inspire others to pursue their dreams and work hard on their skills.
What advice can you give for young music producers/DJs?
Don’t hold back on releasing music, we live in a time and age where we don’t need a record deal to succeed and follow your passion.
Please write a message to your fans.
To all of my besties and supporters out there, I’d like to thank you for supporting my music and allowing me to follow my passion. Hopefully I can inspire you all to be the best version of yourselves, because you definitely inspire me to become my best.
