Out Now Magazine Spotlight series featuring rising Latin music artist Fresh EP for an exclusive interview
Fresh EP is an acclaimed Latin Music Artist From Brooklyn,New York. Born in New York City from Dominican Parents Thats how he gets all his Latin cultural flavor.
Where are you from?
I’m from Brooklyn. Born in New York of Dominican Descent.
When did you start making music?
I started making music when I was 12 to 13 years old and professionally I have since 2017. Watching my brother and friends record got me involved and wanting to learn how to do it. It’s history from there.
How do you describe your music?
I would describe my music as being super versatile and radio friendly I mastered the commercial music sound I believe I’m very marketable. I also have the streets with me that’s the good thing for a Latin artist from Brooklyn im the first to have a sound that can change the game in my opinion.
Favorite moment from your career?
When I was with my photographer Walik Goshorn and went to Jennifer Lopez 50th private birthday party in Star Island,Miami. It Was an amazing experience I got to meet Fat Joe, Dj Khaled & more people with amazing energy. It was an experience to never forget.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
One of my biggest inspirations is Puerto Rican/Dominican Latin Artist “De La Ghetto” many would not even think that he was one of the reasons I got into music. His flow never got old to me just got better and still it’s one of my dream Feature. He’s a Latin artist who loves the Jamaican Reggae culture just like I do I relate to him that’s why I would say he inspires me as an artist.
What is your producing software?
Being a Recording artist & Music Producer I use Pro Tools for Vocals & FL Studio for beats.
What other things do you do besides making music?
I love to cook, I’m passionate about cooking as much as I am about music. It just get me relaxed because one thing about cooking is timing and letting it flow and that’s the best part. Just like music seeing people’s reaction to the flavor is priceless. I love cooking for family and friends. Definitely my second passion.
What is your favorite track of all time?
I would say my favorite track of all time It will have to be Bandoleros from Don Omar and Tego Calderon. It’s very transparent and raw I love the energy. It’s a timeless track it don’t matter if it’s twenty years from now you play that song anywhere and people will chant word by word it is timeless.
What is your best-producing tip?
Try to be original as much as you can or better yet try to be different. Dont be afraid of this sounds weird if you like it others will too. Be yourself and be the best.
Why did you start making music?
I found music was a great way of self expression just like a fun, creative & positive way of spending my time.
What are your goals for the future?
Investments for sure in Real Estate I would like to put things in my community. Coming from Brownsville, Brooklyn there are not so many constructive things to do I feel that’s why so many youth go the street route. Also start my Label and sign some Latin artist from my City & New York.
What advice can you give for young music producers/DJs?
To support one another. we all need each other the artist is nothing with out the producer & the Dj needs the artist and the producer and Dj need artist to produce and play. With that being said we should just support the good music good dj and good producer. Build each other up and get money together.
