Venezuelan/Italian artist born in Florida Sofia Delfino takes us on a ride in new single “Déjame Tranquila”
Following the release of “Extraños” (Strangers), the young singer-songwriter is continuing the story of her difficult breakup with the upbeat and catchy song “Déjame Tranquila” (Leave Me Alone), in which she showcases her progress in overcoming the pain and focusing on her own well-being.
“Déjame Tranquila”, which premiered today, shares the story of how the person who broke her heart tries to return, but by then, it’s already too late.
Sofia says: ““Déjame Tranquila” was actually born out of a recording session for “Extraños,” where I aimed to express all the spiteful feelings through the song and leave them behind. Ironically, just five minutes after leaving the studio, the person whom I had written the song about called. After the call, I was extremely upset, and I just kept hearing in my head ‘déjame tranquila, déjame tranquila.’ That night, I recorded a voice note in the shower, and when I heard it, I realized it could become an incredible song. I then called two of my favorite producers, Orlando Vitto and Renzo Bravo, and two of my favorite writers, Samantha Camara and Claudia Prieto, and planned a session and made the song.”
She also adds: “Upon my arrival, I expressed that I had a lot to share with them, that I needed to release everything, and we wrote the song as I spoke. I feel that the process was incredibly unique, and I had never experienced anything like it before. The outcome is an incredibly authentic and vulnerable piece that I feel people will be able to identify with.”
The young singer-songwriter presents this song with a personal video in which she talks about her experience and how these songs have aided in her healing. This material was made possible by a talented team of individuals, including cinematographer Marcello Peschiera and Daniel Eguren, who directed and helped Sofia bring her vision to life.
Sofia explains more: “I love the video because it was the first one in which I had the opportunity to be more involved. I crafted almost the entire story. The video begins with me in tears, my makeup smudged, and as the song unfolds, visually, I’m starting to recover. I loved being able to incorporate dance; my choreographer Gabrielle Dominguez helped me bring it to life, and for the first time, I felt like I could focus on dance in the way that I wanted to. The result is one of my favorite videos that I’ve ever made.”
