Set for a busy year ahead, slumkadet has already made moves with his debut single ‘Maze’ which received support from multiple R&B playlists as well as a BBC Asian Radio spin.
slumkadet went on a personal journey to identify and carve out a new sound and vision for himself, resulting in the unique future R&B-Tamil combination heard on ‘Tell Me’. The unparalleled sound has since led him to work behind the scenes with artists such as AJ Tracey, Illangelo, the late Juice Wrld, and of course M.I.A, who he joined on tour to give him his first taste for the industry.
Slumkadet cites J Cole, Michael Jackson and most importantly A.R. Rahman as some of the leading inspiration behind his music, with the latter seeding his ambition to make music.
Growing up in a Sri Lankan-Tamil household, Michael was surrounded by a wide array of both Indian and Tamil cultural forces including Music Director Maestro Ilayaraja and Tamil movie, ‘Boys’ (Musically directed by A.R. Rahman) with the soundtrack favorably remembered as his first-ever CD.
