Rexx Life Raj teams up with American rapper Wale and Nigerian singer Fireboy DML on a new exciting single ‘Beauty In The Madness’
The single fuses punchy base and amped-up horns as Raj searches for a partner to ground him. Billboard chart-topper Fireboy DML brings his Lagos flare, while Grammy-nominated rapper Wale kicks off the track with his signature introspective flow.
To Raj, relationships, whether romantic or familial, are the crux of his songwriting skills. He relays his sentimentality in a way that never makes you doubt its authenticity.
Raj says: “Beauty In The Madness was a song concept I’d had in my head for a minute,” “A little bit of mushroom chocolate helped me get it out into the world. With all the craziness of the past year losing both parents, looking for silver linings was more challenging than ever before, but also never more necessary. I had Plo, Dtb, and Ekzakt pull up to the Airbnb and make the beat. It was actually P-lo’s idea to take it in the Afrobeat direction. After I laid my verse I knew it needed a crazy feature. Around that same time I was introduced to Fireboy at the Empire studio in SF. I played it for him and he immediately hopped on. Nima then sent it over to Wale and he blessed me a verse.”
Raj’s last single “Balance,” released in February alongside a sepia-toned music video, paid homage to his late mother. It featured both real and reenacted clips of their relationship throughout the years.
Hailing from the Golden State, Raj has received critical acclaim from some of the biggest outlets in the biz — and for good reason. The D1-athlete turned R&B star fuses upbeat bass-fueled tracks with poignant and insightful lyrics.
