The Brazil native- who has recently moved to London- follows up her previous single nothing To Me on this brand new cut. On Million Dollars, listeners are treated to Nonô’s signature lyrical sass and beat-driven hip hop sensibilities.
“Million Dollars is all about empowerment. It’s about getting knocked down and then getting back up and creating resilience until people can’t bring you down anymore. It’s also a comment on how interesting it is that some people act superior to others these days based purely on their money” – Nonô
Nonô ‘Million Dollars’
Growing up in a big family in Brazil, Nonô’s listening taste pulls in many inspirations, from Seu Jorge, Funk Carioca, and Bossa Nova/Samba, to Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Daniel Caesar, Nina Simone and contemporaries like Eminem, D’Angelo and Chance The Rapper. Nonô moved to London for musical inspiration and it was a time when- she explains- “life got even more real. Every day is a challenge- you always have to prove yourself, you’re worth, and have to know that it is difficult making it out here but you can’t let yourself be affected by these things. You always have to keep pushing forward”.
Nonô launched into the contemporary music scene in 2018 with her debut cut Bite, which has racked up over 100k streams so far and the video reaching over 17k video views within a month. Nonô played a high energy debut headline show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in Spring 2019, leaving fans in a venue packed to the rafters wanting more. Currently, in studios around the world honing her new music, Nonô is well on the way to becoming a new young artist to watch.
