Rising British Pop Trio KOKO Unveils Brand New Single ‘Now That I’m Wanting More’
Fresh in the newly laid tracks of their critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Follow’, the British dark-pop trio KOKO launch the next phase of their musical journey with ‘Now That I’m Wanting More’ – OUT NOW.
‘Now That I’m Wanting More’ brings a darker and more aggressive hue to the Bristol-based band’s palette. The sensitive topics of the lyrics from their earlier releases are replaced by an intense and enduring sound. The grinding electronic soundscape in this new track incorporates some of the best of their home city’s musical heritage with elements of dubstep, hip hop, and breaks, with a thumping and pulsating bassline.
“Now That I’m Wanting More’ is all about the stages of a night out” explain the band “You might start by going for a few drinks, but the next thing you know you’re at a rave. Pushing the evening further and further and chasing the rush until the sun comes up!”
This connection to the underground has earned the band a fast-growing fanbase. Earlier this year they played their debut headline show to a packed crowd in a London basement, and have racked up some considerable radio airplay and streaming numbers both in the UK and across Europe.
Ollie, Harry D and Ashley C met at a party in Bristol in 2017. Ollie, who had grown up in Thailand, was on the path to becoming a professional bare-knuckle boxer. Harry D had picked up a skateboarding sponsorship before an injury cut his extreme sports career short. Ashley C was forced to take a different approach in his teens, locking himself away for months on end whilst battling severe anxiety.
All members had dabbled with music previously but came together that night over a mutual love of fusing genres. After realising that they were all on the same page, the trio set about jamming together, and the resulting sound is what you hear today.
The band have more new music ready to release in 2020 – watch this space!
