Pop/rock music rising band KITTEN is back with a brand new amazing album “Personal Hotspots“
After releasing three critically acclaimed EPs (Heaven Is Wherever, Pink Champagne, Goodbye Honeymoon Phase), appearing on CHARLI XCX’s NETFLIX show I’m With The Band: Nasty Cherry, and sharing the stage with icons old and new, KITTEN have at last shared their long-awaited sophomore record.
Personal Hotspots uses an eclectic palette to chart the wild peaks and valleys of the group’s psyche. Perhaps no song better encapsulates the record’s mix of malaise and hope, anxiety and euphoria than album opener “The End of Sunshine”. Showcasing the band’s signature genre-agnosticism, “The End of Sunshine” incorporates psychedelia, gospel, and classic rock into a bedroom pop lament.
The accompanying video, directed by Ayesha Fernandez, shows a series of vignettes in the fictionalized lives of the band members: a lonely guitarist by the beach, a lifetime gambler with a lucky break, a bed-ridden girl moving from darkness to ecstasy.
On Personal Hotspots, KITTEN dream up a world in which hyper-pop histrionics sit alongside piano & strings balladry, throwback pop-rock is crafted from cheesy midi-guitar presets, and pedal steel floats with vintage synths over 808s. Pushing the limits of their modest home-recording set up in pursuit of an elusive sound they’ve termed “Laptop Rock”, KITTEN have made a record only KITTEN could make.
