Mandopop’s Global Star JJ Lin Shares Today The Official Music Video For His English Single “While I Can“
JJ Lin releases the Official music video for “While I Can” which examines the blurred lines between dream versus reality, and the possibility of a parallel universe. Directed by Henry Chen from Taiwan-based rising creative agency LUCKY SPARKS, “While I Can” explores the concept of inner consciousness, featuring JJ as the protagonist in psychedelic and philosophical journey into the inner mind.
The music video opens on a mysterious note as a bare-foot female ethereal being approaches a lonesome JJ amidst a boisterous gathering of partygoers. As the two leads establish contact, perspective shifts and JJ travels into an alternate reality, as though granted access into his own consciousness through an unassuming kiss on the forehead by the female being.
JJ embarks on a journey of self-realization as he rids himself of ego, burdens and baggage. At the end of the video, a stripped-down JJ finds himself in a green oasis as he reunites with the ethereal being, insinuating that after utter relinquishment, a rebirth ensues.’
JJ says, “I have always been intrigued by stories related to parallel universes or alternate realities, and wondered what it would be like to transit to another universe. The director has actualized my imagination in this video.”
Last week JJ held a global listening party, counting down to his album release with music critics across Asia, a stellar lineup of celebrity friends including Jam Hsiao, Jackson Wang, Harry Chang, Seven Tan, Chen Linong and Roy Wang, as well as more than 10 million fans worldwide who tuned in to this virtual streaming party held in his Sanctuary studio in Taipei.
