Global Singer and YouTuber Sensation Jennifer Zhang Debut Her Pop Single “Falling To Your Knees”
At the age of 15, the Vancouverite took her DIY passion and turned it into one of Canada’s biggest success stories — JENerationDIY — a YouTube channel with more than 2.5 million subscribers worldwide.
This fall, Zhang is taking everything she’s learned and funnelling it into a new, music-focused project that addresses head-on the challenges of being a POC in the pop-music industry — JEN Z.
The new single “Falling To Your Knees” is a synth-driven pop track written in response to online backlash Zhang received earlier this year as a POC.
“With the outbreak of Covid-19, I, along with many other Asians, had to deal with a lot of racism and hate speech,” explained Zhang. “This song is a response to one specific comment that really affected me for a couple of days. It is an anthem that allowed me to stand up for myself and hopefully help others see the error of their ways.”
After years of growing a dedicated online audience — which she lovingly calls “Hooligans” — JEN Z sees Zhang returning to where everything started and has her celebrating her love of music from a young age with the release of a brand new, original single, “Falling To Your Knees.”
Zhang says: “My first YouTube channel was actually a singing channel as I’ve always loved singing but was too shy to sing in front of other people. After years of building an incredible community on YouTube and growing my self-confidence I feel as though I am ready to release music that tells my story and allows me to connect with people on a whole new level,”
